We’re currently installing larger, more resilient wastewater pipes under Stage Highway 59, near Mepham Place. To achieve this, we are using a technique called pipe ramming. By drilling a hole into the ground and pushing the pipes through, it means we can install the new, steel wastewater pipes more faster and efficiently.
It’s important to note that whilst this technique is quicker, safer and cheaper, this technique does create loud banging noises, followed by vibration. Our team are mindful of the impact this will have on residents, so are working as quickly as they can to ensure any loud noise or vibration is kept as short as possible.
Project update (as at 2 December 2024)
From mid-October, our contractors are installing six cases (or pipes). They have moved on to installing the last casing, which means we’re on track to completing the pipe ramming work by mid-December.
