Using faster and efficient techniques to get the job done

TRN_infrastructure

We are preparing to start installing wastewater pipes underground near SH59 (the old SH1) near the end of Mepham Place.

To achieve this, we are using a technique called pipe ramming. By drilling a hole into the ground and pushing the pipes through, it means we can install the new, steel wastewater pipes more faster and efficiently.

It’s important to note that whilst this technique is quicker, safer and cheaper, when we start to lay the pipes it does create loud banging noises, followed by vibration. Our team are mindful of the impact this will have on residents, so will work as quickly as they can to ensure any loud noise or vibration is kept as short as possible. We do suggest, if you are able, to take regular breaks from the area.

The pipe installation work is expected to start around 11 October 2024 and will take around 2 months to complete. The work will be carried out by our civil and infrastructure experts Te Aranga, in partnership with Porirua City Council. The working hours will be 7am-6pm Monday to Saturday, however as this work is weather dependant and may be delayed due to bad weather.

For any questions or complaints about the pipe ramming please contact the Te Aranga Alliance on 0800 832 726, or by email. To keep up to date, follow Te Rā Nui on Facebook
