To mark the beginning of major earthworks on and around Esk Place, a small blessing was held by Ngāti Toa Rangatira kaumātua Taku Parai.
The blessing enables our civils and infrastructure experts Te Aranga to start removing and upgrading key stormwater and sewage pipes on and around the site as well as preparing the land for 106 new homes to be built.
“This day has been a long time coming,” says Will Pennington, Porirua Development Project Director. “The work will not only help to future proof the area’s three water infrastructure and ensure they have resilient pipes to last generations, but also lay the foundation to build new homes in the area”.
On the day there were representatives from Porirua Development’s partners Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Porirua City Council and Kāinga Ora as well a few of the Te Pae board members and Te Aranga.
The Esk site is located between Esk Place, Hazard Grove and Calliope Crescent and is a similar style to the new homes built between Castor Crescent and Iris Grove. The new range will provide a mix of over 100, one, two, three, four and five bedroom homes, replacing 55 old state homes.
Major works will start in the coming weeks, and is expected to take up to three years. If you have any concerns or questions please call Te Aranga on 0800 832 726 or alternatively pop the Porirua Development a message on Facebook @PoriruaDevelopment.
